Tours

Map_China2-01Since 2012, I have been leading gastronomic tours of China with the award-winning travel agency WildChina. The Classic Tour is an eye-opening 12-day exploration of the foods of Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Shanghai and Hangzhou (with incidental visits to the Forbidden City, the Terracotta Army and other attractions!). Gastronomic Yunnan is a thrilling exploration of one of China’s most extraordinary provinces, southerwestern Yunnan. On both tours, WildChina handle all the logistics with their customary aplomb, and local guides introduce the sights of the places we visit. I’m in charge of the food, so I choose the restaurants, order the dishes and explain the food throughout the trip.

I have also organised private tours tailored to the needs of individuals and corporate clients, on request.

Here are a few comments from past guests:

“Thank you again for a magnificent trip through China.  I cannot tell you how much it exceeded even my absurdly high expectations!”  – US guest, classic tour

“Dear Fuchsia, I have to say once more how very, very much we enjoyed our trip, the essential ingredient of which was not just your knowledge (which was formidably encyclopaedic), but above everything else your unbridled and totally infectious enthusiasm for your subject. Even had I not been an ardent food-lover, it would have been impossible to resist. It was a very rare honour to have been able to share your passion, even if only for 12 days.” – Australian guest, Classic tour

“I don’t know how to thank you for being the best guide ever. I guess I won’t even try.” – US guest, Classic tour

“Again thanks for an amazing and wonderful gastronomic tour of Yunnan. Each dish will remain in our memories for a long time. But more important was your curating and description of each meal and each visit to the market.” – UK guest, Yunnan tour

‘I just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful experience in Yunnan this past couple of weeks. I learned so much from you and I have a completely newfound love for regional Chinese food and culture.’ – US guest, Yunnan tour
