Greetings from the start of my US book tour!

It's been a busy few days in Washington DC and Boston. On Monday, the legendary chef Peter Chang hosted a wonderful banquet inspired by Five Tastes at his restaurant Chang Chang! Peter is originally from Hubei province but also specialises in Sichuanese cuisine, and after decades in the business he is still bursting with energy and generosity and creativity. Earlier in the day, I rustled up a couple of dishes from Five Tastes in his kitchen for a radio interview (watch this space!).

On Tuesday, I attended another fascinating lunch hosted by the cult economist Tyler Cowen (of which, again, more later!), and then had a book talk and signing at the specialist China bookshop JF Books at Dupont Circle (second pic). Thanks to everyone who came and bought books, and askec such interesting questions!

Yesterday (Wednesday), I came to Boston where I had a stimulating chat about Chinese cooking with Chris Kimball of Milk Street Kitchen. And then a fun event hosted by Harvard Bookstore at the Cambridge Public Library, where I was delighted to meet several people who have been on my China tours among the audience! Hoping that I've managed to inspire everyone with lots of new cooking possibilities.
